Why We’re Not a Non-Profit (Yet)

People often ask if Phuck Cancer is a non-profit. The answer is simple: not yet. Right now, I operate this project under my small business.

I’ve actually tried the non-profit route before. Years ago, I had a non-profit that operated Phuck Cancer as a project underneath it. The mission was strong, but there wasn’t enough support at the time to keep it running the way it needed to. This time around, I’m doing things differently.

The Goal

The goal is to eventually become a 501(c)(3) non-profit. That means having the right resources, the legal foundation, and a solid community behind it. Getting there takes time, planning, and money.

That’s why, for now, I’m selling merch to help raise the funds we need to file for non-profit status and make sure this project is built to last.

Why Start This Way?

Building as a small business lets us create momentum, grow support, and make sure the project is sustainable before making the leap to a full non-profit. It’s all about building a strong foundation and doing things right. And honestly it is easier. Running a non-profit requires time, money, paperwork, and other people.

What’s Next?

You can expect full transparency every step of the way. When you buy merch, you’re helping take the next step toward becoming a non-profit. When you share your story, you’re making the community stronger.

As soon as we’re ready to officially apply for non-profit status, I’ll share the news with everyone here.

Thanks for being part of this. Every bit of support helps turn hopeful anger into real change.

Phuck Cancer.
